Microscopically Assisted Discectomy and Spinal Decompression SurgeryAugust 6, 2019
This is a minimally invasive outpatient type surgery (similar to Kyphoplasty). It is used to quickly (in 10-20 minutes) kill many types of cancer cells inside a vertebral body with the use of a radiofrequency probe, provide faster pain relief, and can be used in combination with Kyphoplasty whenever necessary to stabilize a compromised or broken (fractured) vertebral body. It can be used even for tumors that are sensitive to radiation, and preferably before radiation treatment, for better results. Patients report excellent pain relief with this procedure when there is significant involvement of the vertebral bodies with tumor which are destroying the vertebral bone.
